She started her professional career way back in 2000,practiced as an advocate for five years at the High Court and various other trial courts in Kerala. Academic career started in the year 2005 with extensive teaching and research experience having worked at Government Law College, Thrissur, Kerala, School of Legal Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi and more than nine years of teaching experience at the premier institute of law of the country, National Law School of India University Bengaluru. She has qualified the Karnataka State Eligibility Test for Lecturer/Assistant Professorship.
Currently she is Assistant Professor (Law) at Tamil Nadu National Law University, Tiruchirappalli. She engages classes on Labour Laws and Gender Justice and Feminism. Presently she is co-ordinator to Centre for Labour Studies and Development at TNNNLU, Trichy She is the Presiding Officer for the Internal Complaints Committee constituted at TNNLU, Trichy.
Her area of specialization is Human Rights Law. She is basically interested in interdisciplinary study on various human rights issues of children, women and the working class population. She has been engaging the students and other stakeholders in the field in subjects related to Constitutional Law, Labour Laws, Procedural Laws, Alternate Dispute Resolution, Administrative Law and Human Rights Law. She has to her credit, thirty articles pertaining to human rights issues of the vulnerable sections of population in various journals and ten chapters to her credit in edited books of international and national reputation. The most recent article, Best Interest of the Elderly with Dementia - A Human Rights Discourse is published in the Journal of National Human Rights Commission, India ,the most prestigious Silver Jubilee Edition along with the writings by acclaimed personalities like Honourable Dalali Lama ,Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi and many more. She has presented her research works and several papers at the International, National & State level Seminars and Conferences. She has travelled extensively across India in the capacity of invited speaker along with other nationally acclaimed dignitaries for the Seminars organised by National Human Rights Commission for the seminars at Kohima, Manipur, Chattisgarh and Mysore and the State Human Rights Commission, Karnataka. She has attended various Refresher courses and faculty development programmes at the most prestigious TISS, Mumbai and NLU Delhi.
She was entrusted with various administrative capacities at NLSIU Bengaluru including being the warden for the Ladies Hostel, Sexual harassment policy Advisor, member of Disciplinary Committee, Anti ragging Committee, Sexual Harassment Inquiry Committee, Scholarship Committee, Undergraduate Council Committee etc., She represented NLSIU Bengaluru in the governmental platforms specifically the labour issues of construction workers of Katrnataka since she was designated as Expert Member, Building and other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and conditions of Service )Act,1996,Expert Committee nominated by NLSIU and approved by the Government of Karnataka, 2014.
Her research works attained its wider horizons during her tenure at NLSIU Bengaluru. She was the Co-ordinator and Programme Officer for the ENVIS Centre on Environmental Law and Policy, NLSIU, Bengaluru sponsored by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and took part in many of the national level meetings/deliberations. She was the Co- ordinator for the Para-Legal Training (Certificate Course), to the Central University of Tamilnadu, Thiruvarur for threeyears since 2014, the first of its kind of MOU between NLSIU, Bengaluru and Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur. She was the Co-coordinator for MOOC’S Course on Human rights.
The international exposure, she had represented NLSIU Bengaluru talks at volumes about her work. She was invited as the resource person to deliver lectures for the prestigious International Teaching Week organized by Hof University of Applied Sciences, Germany thrice for the years 2015,2016 and 2018 and engaged the students across the globe on various Labour legislations in India and its prospects . Recently she visited China for delivering lectures at Yunnan University, School of Law, Kunming, China on the topics Civil procedure Code and Alternate Dispute Resolution mechanisms in India. She was a participant for the ASIAN DEVELOPMENT BANK Regional Capacity Development Technical Assistance Strengthening the Capacity for Environmental and Climate Change Laws in Asia and the Pacific: Developing Environmental Law Champions, “Train the Trainer Programme” Conducted By The Asian Development Bank, IUCN Academy of Environmental Law and the Open University Of Sri Lanka- Colombo, Sri Lanka.
She has been the resource person for prestigious academic and professional platforms, both nationally and internationally. To name a few ,Orientation and training programmes for the Indian Economic Service , officers at National Academy of Direct Taxes, Nagpur, Income tax Commissioners and Officers, Southern Region, Direct Taxes Regional Training Institute, Bangalore, Administrative Training Institute, Mysore, Karnataka Power Corporation, HAL Management Trainee (Legal) Orientation Programme, Distance Education Department at NLSIU, Bangalore and Employers Federation of Southern India and various other NGO’s like the International Justice Mission working on marginalized populations like the bonded labour issues.
