Sumedha Ray Sarkar joined TNNLU as a Writing Fellow at the Centre for Research and
Writing in January 2019, and was appointed Assistant Professor (Ad Hoc) in August 2019.
Sumedha is an alumna of both ILS Law College and Campus Law Centre, Delhi Faculty of
Law, earning her B.S.L from the former and her LL.B. from the latter. Upon graduation, she
worked as a Research Assistant to Prof. Dr. Kamala Sankaran and was law clerk to Hon'ble
Justice S. Ravindra Bhat while he was at the Delhi High Court, and Hon'ble Justice R.F.
Nariman, Supreme Court of India. Sumedha has read the Masters at Columbia Law School,
New York, graduating in 2018. At TNNLU she has taught Constitutional Law, Administrative
Law and the Law of Torts. Her areas of interest include judicial review, legal interpretation,
and empirical legal studies
