The Tamil Nadu National Law University was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu by an Act of State Legislature (Tamil Nadu Act, 2012) with the laudable objectives of advancing and disseminating knowledge of the law and legal processes and their role in national development. The Bar Council of India has granted recognition to TNNLU as a Center for Legal Education. TNNLU is a member of Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute and it is a permanent member of Indian Academy of Social Sciences. TNNLU has organized innumerable lectures, seminars, symposia and conferences (including a recent international conference in collaboration with Oxford Human Rights Hub on Affirmative Action and the Sustainable Development Goal of Gender Equality), to promote legal knowledge and to make law and legal processes as efficient instruments of social development. We cordially invite your esteemed institution to participate in the 1st edition of TNNLU National Med-Arb Competition (TNNLU NMAC) to be organized in collaboration with Nani Palkhivala Arbitration Centre, Chennai (NPAC). The Nani Palkhivala Arbitration Centre, Chennai (NPAC) is a non-profit organization set up in 2005 under the Indian Companies Act. The Madras High Court has formally recognized NPAC as an institution rendering assistance in arbitration matters. The main aim of the Centre is to provide quick, efficient and cost-effective arbitration services. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
TNNLU NMAC | ||||||||||||||||||||||
TNNLU NMAC is one of the few competitions focusing on the hybrid variety of Mediation and Arbitration (Med-Arb) under the umbrella of Alternative Dispute Resolution.Inthis competition, the parties will initially try to resolve their disputes through mediation based on an agreed covenant and then through arbitration. This agreed covenant will transform into a binding arbitration agreement for the arbitration session. Hence, the participating students are expected to participate and compete against each other in both Mediation and Arbitration sessions. Participation in the competition is limited to 24 teams based on 'First come First serve.' The competition will take place in the following rounds- * The Preliminary Rounds * The Semifinal Rounds * The Final Round. Venue: NNLU campus, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. |
