Centre for Competition Law (CCL)

TNNLU was selected by the Competition Commission of India (CCI), New Delhi under the CCI (Competition Assessment of Economic Legislations and Policies) Guidelines, 2017 to act as an Empanelled Institution (EI) for the purposes of carrying out Competition Assessment (CA) exercise of legislations, bills and policies from the domain of economics and other subject areas.

TNNLU was one among the four Universities across India to be empanelled by CCI for this prestigious work. Subsequently, the Centre for Competition Law (CCL) was setup on 4 th February, 2018 to carry forward the empanelment work along with other research activities. CCL was inaugurated in the presence of Hon’ble Justice Mr. Rajiv Shakhder – High Court of Judicature at Delhi, Hon’ble Justice Mr. T.S. Sivagnanam – High Court of Judicature at Madras, Senior Advocate Mr. P.H. Arvindh Pandian – Additional Advocate General for Government of Tamil Nadu and Mr. Manoj Pandey, I.R.S. – Advisor (Law) to the Competition Commission of India. The mission of CCL is to create awareness among the general public at large about the implications of Competition Law and to carry out focused research in the field of Competition and Commercial Laws. With a view to disseminate information on promoting competition in the market, we intend to conduct workshops, training programmes, publish newsletters/case summaries etc. in the domain of Competition Law.
