Biography

Dr. Amirthalingam.S has completed his B.Sc., (Zoology) in Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, Bachelor of Law (B.L) at Government Law College, Coimbatore, and Master of Laws (M.L) at Department of Legal Studies, University of Madras. He had practised at the High Court of Madras till 2004.  After that, he started his academic career as Lecturer in Law in Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University Law College, Chengalpet till 2007. He has also worked as Assistant Professor of Law at the School of Excellence in Law (SOEL), in Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai till June 2015. He was the faculty Coordinator of the “School of Excellence in Law – Moot Court Association” and organized the Pro Bono Enviro Moot Court Competition, Ramamanai Taxation Moot Court Competition, and Commonweal Moot Court Competitions.                           

He was the Co-coordinator of the British Academy Award UK-South Asian Partnership (UKSAP) in India-USA (123) Civil Nuclear Cooperation Agreement.  The Project collaboration is by way of Group Research comprising scholars from the University of Reading, London, UK, and scholars from the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai.

He has visited Reading University, London, UK (September 2009 and September 2010), University Kebangsaan Malaysia (March 2010), Bangkok, Thailand (August 2011).  He has also visited Sri Lanka for participating in the Asian Development Bank Regional Capacity for Environmental Law in the Asia-Pacific: Developing Developing Environmental Law Champions “Train-the-Trainers Program’ (May -June 2018). He was also a consultant in Saph Pani, a Project on Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) relating to groundwater recharge with Centre for Environmental Management and Decision Support (CEDMS), University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria.  Coordinate in Civil Administration, the Government of Tamil Nadu in the scheme of JNURM (Rent Control Laws). The project is entitled to make appropriate reforms in the existing Rent Control Laws.  He has also resourced persons in various Refresher Courses, Training Programmes, Workshop, Symposia and delivered lectures for the academicians and the executives. He has also participated in two Regional Teacher Training Programme on International Humanitarian Laws and also attended CASCADE Programme. He has participated and presented papers in Reginal, National, and International Seminars, Conferences, Workshops, and Symposia and published Articles in both National and International reputed journals.    He has also acted as a Judge in various National and International Moot Court competitions.

He was also working as Faculty in-Charge (Academics), Member Academic Council, Nodal Officer AISHE, and Member Board of Studies (Law – General), University of Madras, Chennai.
