The Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU) invites applications for the Certificate Course on Advanced Courtroom and Advocacy Skills under Project Eyalvathu Karavel. This certificate course is designed for young advocates enrolled with the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry with 0 – 2 years of professional experience. The course aims to enhance litigation skills, practical legal knowledge and professional competencies through structured and practice-orientated learning with a vision to promote pro bono advocacy.
Advanced Courtroom and Advocacy Skills Course is designed as a one-year, workshop based - on hands training programme with an objective to strengthen the practical skills and professional capacities of young advocates. The course shall include a series of interactive workshops, stimulation exercises, case-based discussions and experiential learning activities, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of legal practice and emerging areas of law. No course fee shall be levied for participation and certification for this programme.
Between workshops, participants will undertake practical assignments and case-based tasks designed to encourage the application of their learning to real-world legal issues. Participants will also be encouraged to take up pro bono matters relating to relevant legal and social issues, with structured mentorship and guidance from experienced legal practitioners, academicians and subject-matter experts.
A key component of the programme will be community-based legal engagement. Participants will collaborate with local civil society organisations to proactively identify and source cases, conduct legal awareness programmes and contribute to initiatives aimed at promoting access to justice and addressing the legal needs of local communities.
Certification under the Course on Advanced Courtroom and Advocacy Skills will be based on active participation and satisfactory performance throughout the course, including participation in workshops, academic engagement, practical exercises, involvement in pro bono matters and meaningful contribution to community-based legal initiatives.
