TNNLU - International Client Consultation Competition (ICCC) 2024

FORREST S. MOSTEN INTERNATIONAL CLIENT CONSULTATION COMPETITION (ICCC) 2024.

Tamil Nadu National Law University is proud to present that the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of TNNLU shall be the official host for the India Rounds of the Louis M Brown and Forrest S Mosten International Client Counselling Competition, 2024 to be conducted from 02 to 04 February 2024. The Competition, simulating a law office consultation, provides a platform for law students from leading law schools in India to showcase their consultation and counselling skills.

ABOUT LOUIS M. BROWN AND FORREST S. MOSTEN INTERNATIONAL CLIENT CONSULTATION COMPETITION

 Louis M. Brown initiated the first Client Counselling Competition in 1969, gaining American Bar Association recognition in 1972. The International Competition debuted in 1985, officially named after Louis M. Brown in 1993. In May 2010, it evolved from "client counselling" to "client consultation." Affiliated with the International Bar Association, it collaborates globally. The 2024 international rounds in Lublin, Poland (10 to 14 April 2024), themed 'International Humanitarian Law,' unite winners from global national rounds. This platform refines law students' interviewing and counselling, fostering cultural exchange. Over a decade, students from 30+ countries, including India, participated.

 ABOUT ICCC 2024 INDIA ROUNDS

The India Rounds gather 28 teams, evaluating client interviewing, counselling, and post-interview phases. The evaluation criteria include professionalism, alternative suggestions, and enabling informed choices. The competition simulates a law office consultations, where two law students play the role of an attorney. The competition is conducted from 02 to 04 February, 2024 at Tamil Nadu National Law University.  

TIMELINE OF THE COMPETITION

Date of Commencement of Registration: 27 December 2023
Date of Closing of Registration: 15 January 2024
Last Date for Submission of Travel Plan: 25 January 2024
Dates of Competition: 02 to 04 February 2024
Inauguration: 02 February 2024
Preliminary Rounds: 03 February 2024
Semi Final and Final Rounds: 04 February 2024
Valedictory and Closing Ceremony: 04 February 2024.

RULES OF THE COMPETITION

1. Only Bar Council-recognized law students are eligible, with each team comprising two participants. 
2. Only students from Law colleges or universities that are recognised by the BarCouncil of India are eligible to participate.
3. Members of any winning team of the Louis M. Brown and Forrest S. MostenInternational Client Consultation Competition are not allowed to re-enter the Competition.
4. The registration fees for the India Rounds is a fee of INR 6,000.
5. A stringent team composition and eligibility check, along with a transparent acknowledgment process, ensures a fair and competitive environment.
6. The participating institution must send an email with the Institution’s registration form to iccc2024@tnnlu.ac.in or adrc@tnnlu.ac.in through its MCC/ADR Committee or HOD/Dean/Registrar’s office via their official email address confirming that the registered participants are students of the institution and are selected/nominated to represent the institution in the National Rounds of the Louis M. Brown and Forrest S. Mosten International Client Consultation Competition, 2024.
7. Teams are authorised to pay registration fees only after a confirmation is received from the MCC/ADR Committee or HOD/Dean/Registrar’s office via their official email address to iccc2024@tnnlu.ac.in. The teams are permitted to pay the registration fees only after receipt of email confirmation from the Organizing Committee with a direction to such teams to proceed with payment of registration fees.
8. The winners will represent India in the International Rounds.
9. The theme of the competition is International Humanitarian Law. Join us for this prestigious event as we explore and engage in the intricacies of client consultation on a global stage.
