Biography

Mr. Vasishtan P has been an Assistant Professor of Law at the Tamil Nadu National Law University, Tiruchirappalli, since January 2023. Prior to joining TNNLU, he was freelancing as a technology lawyer advising start-ups and assisting law firms in this practice. He is also invited to deliver lectures and orientations at various institutions at the UG and PG levels. He is enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Post-B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) in 2020 from TNNLU, Vasishtan enrolled in a full-time residential Fellowship, Daksha Fellowship with the Technology Law and Policy specialisation, as a full-scholarship recipient.

To further his speciality in the field of technology laws and data protection, Vasishtan enrolled in HNLU, Raipur for an LL.M. in Technology and Law and secured two gold medals namely, the University Gold Medal for securing the First Rank in LL.M. and Late Kamalnarayan Sharma Gold Medal for securing the highest marks in LL.M. His Dissertation was on the JPC’s Report on Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019. Vasishtan also successfully completed his two-year M.B.L. course from the NLSIU, Bangalore in the same year. He is continuing his efforts to research further on data protection laws in India for his Ph.D course at WBNUJS, Kolkata.

Vasishtan is an active publisher of his research works in the Op-Ed columns of newspapers, predominantly writing on Indian federalism, social justice, and public policy. Besides, he holds over 28 publications in law, has presented at over 12 national and international conferences and seminars, and has participated in over another 15. His publications and presentations are largely on the subjects of Intellectual Property Laws, Privacy Laws, Social Justice and Constitution. He has also held positions of leadership in various Committees throughout his alma mater and has held key membership in a funded Government Project.

Vasishtan’s hobbies include debating, driving, and critiquing films online. He further mentors students for various law-school competitions and other career guidance.
