Biography

Mr. A. Nirmal Singh Heera has completed B.L (Five Year Integrated) degree law course at Government Law College, Tirunelveli from 2003- 2008 and M.L in the branch of Intellectual Property Rights in Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai during the academic Year 2008-2010 and has also completed U.G.C NET in (Law) held on June 2011. He has also completed M.A in (Public Administration & Political Science) from the Tamil Nadu Open University, Chennai, during the year 2004 – 2006 & 2006–2008.

He started his career as an advocate at Saidapet Metropolitan Magistrate Courts’ Saidapet, Chennai, and practiced from 2008 to June 2014 both on the Civil and Criminal sides.

Gradually, he started his academic career at Government Law College, Chengalpattu as a guest faculty and worked for a period of one year six months and later on, he became a full-time Assistant Professor in Law, in School of Law, SASTRA Deemed to be University, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu and worked there from 25th June 2014 to 30th April 2019. Subsequently, he joined in VIT School of Law, VIT University, Chennai Campus, and worked from 6th June 2019 to 30th November 2019. After that, he joined TNNLU on 2nd December 2019.

He is having rich experience in teaching and he has published a book titled “Marriage and Divorce Laws (Including Adoption, Maintenance, Minority, and Guardianship) along with The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006” along with Mrs. N. Prabhavathi, Assistant Professor in Law, School of Law, SASTRA Deemed to be University, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. He is interested in handling procedural laws as well as substantive laws. While he was working in the School of Law, SASTRA Deemed to be University, Thanjavur has conducted 18 Legal Aid and Legal Awareness Programme in and around Thanjavur District as a Co-ordinator of SASTRA Legal Clinic. He has also assisted the Tiruvarur District Legal Services Authority in organizing a Two-day mass door to door campaign on legal awareness programme held on 2nd and 3rd November 2016 and also assisted the students of Law, SASTRA Deemed to be University, in taking classes for the children in Government Children’s Home for Boys, Thanjavur.

He has delivered a lecture as a Resource Person in the Training Programme for the advocates with up to 5 years of practice, and for advocates with above 5 years and up to 10 years of practice, separately in Thanjavur District organized by the Tamil Nadu State Judicial Academy, in two occasions, held on 29.09.2018, 30.09.2018 & 24.02.2019 respectively, held at Court Hall, Principal District Court, Thanjavur.

Further, he has presented nearly 24 papers in Regional, National, and International Seminars, Conferences, and has also participated in various Workshops, Symposia, and Training Programmes. Further, he has also participated in several Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) and also successfully completed SWAYAM MOOC courses as well to equip himself in the academic career.

He has published nearly 35 Articles in both National and International refereed, peer-reviewed / UGC Approved/ U.G.C CARE Approved/ SCOPUS indexed journals. His areas of interest are Family Laws in India, Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, Law of Evidence, Intellectual Property Laws, Indian Penal Code, etc.
