Day 7

Date: 16.04.2022

Sub-theme: To the lost dances Dancer- Neyaa

Independence was not just a celebratory moment, but it had more to it. It was followed by partition that separated and broke many love stories. The dance performance is an ode to the loves that were torn apart by the partition. To the ones who yearned for their love on both sides of the borders.

The dance performance encompassed Thappattama and Oyilattam, traditional folk-art forms of Tamil Nadu. It is very important to preserve one’s own culture. All have the responsibility of passing on the goodness of an art, irrespective of its class and caste background it owes its origin to. The performance passed on the message that we should celebrate every art form and give respect and due credit to all of them.
