As part of the STAP initiatives at TNNLU, this Intra-University Essay Writing Competition was organised by the Faculties in charge of the Law of Torts course, Ms. Mrinmoyee Mukherjee, Assistant Professor of Law and Ms. Vedavalli, Writing Fellow. The law of torts is largely uncodified in India. However, over time, legal principles have been carved through judicial precedents. Whether codification of torts will bring about uniformity and certainty to claimants was the theme of the Competition. The specific topic of the essay was “Moving on from the English Common Law: Is it Time to Codify Civil Wrongs in India?”. The Competition was notified on 1st February 2022 to the undergraduate students of TNNLU via e-mail. The last date for submission of essay entries was 25th February 2022. Two entries were received through the submission form and scrutinised by the faculties in charge. The result of the Competition was declared on 1st March 2022 via e-mail. The Winner of the Competition was Mr. Hari Venkatesh V, a first-year student of B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.).
